A healthy nut mix recipe is super easy to make and tastes great without all the additives you don’t need. In our family we always have nut mix on the counter at the ready for a quick energy snack with protein and nutrients, but without all the junk.
Keeping healthy snacks on hand and readily accessible helps you and your family make better snack choices throughout the day. A healthy nut mix recipe is super easy to make and tastes great without all the additives you don’t need.
Sure, we love the occasional sweet or savory, sweet and savory, or spicy nut mixes too. However, we reserve those for special occasions such as company or holidays.
It’s baffling to me too read the labels of most store-bought packaged nut mixes. They almost always contain oils, salt, preservatives and even added sugar. They’re generally way too high in carbs, sugar and calories and additives that don’t add nutritive value and may even be detrimental.
A healthy nut mix recipe is still quite fulfilling and delicious without all the additives, and a perfect blend of substantial and savory with hints of sweet from dried fruits. Once you start reading the packaged nut mixes, you’ll notice how the store bought varieties may not be so good for you.
As you get used to making and eating your own, you’ll get used to less sweet, more substantial snack that provide energy, fuel, pleasure and other health benefits
A healthy nut mix recipe is super easy to make with unlimited variations, and tastes great without all the additives you don’t need.

You can use all kinds of nut variations and combinations in your nut mix recipe. This is just one example of our favorite super berry nut mix recipe. If we don’t have some of these nuts on hand, we must omit or substitute with others.
So have fun and experiment with your favorites nuts and create variations of this with what you have on hand.
Our healthy nut mix recipe is generally a ratio of 12 cups of nuts, to 4 cups sweet dried fruit, and 2 cups of tart dried fruit. So 12-4-2, makes it 1/2 dried fruit but only 1/3 of the entire mix is sweet fruit. We don’t use sweetened fruit such as “Craisins” because of the sugar unless it’s for holiday or the rare occasion.
You can find dried fruits sweetened with honey or apple juice. These typically cost more but are a little healthier than just sugar-sweetened tart fruits like the Craisins.
